Arts & Craft House

NORTH LONDON

A substantial (11,000sqft) renovation to a large arts and crafts home in North London, currently underway, comprising the addition of a basement and large glazed garden room extension.

Drawing on the materiality of the existing building, and the garden setting, the extension makes use of curved glass, pink concrete and intricately detailed copper work to the roof. The basement features large high-ceilinged spaces, massed to maximise the ingress of natural light, creating a functioning additional floor to the house. A careful approach to conservation has been taken, including the reinstatement of traditional detailing to the front of the building, and the restoration of a Jacobean-style panelled drawing room.
